Nusantara project 2017 will be started on Sept 2017




Students who join the project will be given a task to be a marketing consultant and have been asked to provide advice to a small business in Indonesia (details will be provided) that is considering exporting for the first time.  The organisation believes that exporting will provide increased profitable sales.  As the organisation is new to export the owners have sought your advice.  Your advice should contain the following sections:

  1. Choose one Small Business Enterprise (SMEs) to be your partner or case study.
  2. Describe how you would assess the organization’s readiness for export. (1 – 2 pages)
  3. Identify the markets which should be considered as priority markets. Support your market selections with evidence to justify their selection and explain why you selected them. (6 – 8 pages)
  4. Describe the key elements of an export marketing plan that will need to be considered for the organisation, and recommend how you would address each. (5 – 6 pages) Include, at a minimum:
  5. Market segments available eg. retail, food service and industrial and the ones that should be targeted.
  6. Promotion and Market positioning considerations.
  7. Pricing including how prices should be set, distribution margin considerations, terms of trade.
  8. Product including modifications that might be necessary, design, packaging, labeling, core product, augmented product.
  9. Distribution including how partners should be selected and managed and which channels and types of partners would be most appropriate for the selected segments.
  10. Promotions including the types of promotions that should be considered.
  11. Provide details of the export documentation including regulatory approvals that will be required to be completed prior to and when export transactions occur. (2 – 3 pages)
  12. Identify the risks likely to be faced by the organization and describe how they should be mitigated. (2 – 3 pages)
  13. Prepare your assignment in a report format that would be suitable to be presented to a client, but ensure appropriate referencing is used.
